Workin on the Posture

"Leap and the net will appear" – Zen Saying

Ahhhh posture clinic has begun! Luckily it has been a little slow to start in the beginning bcs I need crazy preparation and memorizing time for the next several dialogues. Its Thursday which means alllll this wknd I will be studying my dialogue and for the 2nd Anatomy test. I think I will need to plan another visit back to Hawaii to actually see the sites here. Ha. No way I will have anytime to do all the wknd activities Jess and I planned. Haha. Ok I knew I wouldnt have much extra free time but was praying some how I would be able to squeeze a little in.

This wknd I will at least take advantage of Cinco De Mayo and like my sister said have a quesadilla to celebrate if you cant drink. Haha. Almosttt the same but thats ok. Maybe study on the beach too so I can get some color again. This week I took a break from the sun bcs my face got a little red near my eyes and was irritating during yoga. Anyhoo. I completed the full Half Moon Pose - Yae!!! I did better, for myself, the second part of the dialouge as compared to my first try in front of Bikram but I get sooo nervous doing public speaking. Something I am ready to work completely out of my system and get over while I am here! The memorizing part is going real well for me. I say that now of course when we arent in lightning speed mode in our posture clinics which is right around the corner, but I sort of make it into a game to see how fast I can memorize the lines and I amaze myself that I can put all that info into my head farely quickly. Ok its been a real long time since I have studied or been in school so this is a shock for my brain. Ha.

Posture clinic rooms are broken up into 12 groups. Each group is about 25 people. Each day 2 new groups are paired together so your always reciting and around new fresh faces. Its a lot more comfortable speaking in front of 50 people than 300! Still a bit nerve racking. I am aware of my nerves and want to let go but my voice still is a little shaky. Practice, practice! We are being reviewed and given feedback by past Bikram yoga graduates who now teach or own their own studios all over the world. Those guys are rotated as well each day so everything stays fresh. Its so great to get feedback for each dialogue so I can constantly perfect and hone my skills. It is absolutely one of the best, most comfortable environments to be experiencing and doing this in! Everyone is soo supportive and we are all going through our own personal growth and fears and overcoming them together.

For the 2nd half of my Half Moon dialogue I was lucky enough to have this years Yoga Asana Champions critique me. Ky Ha and Cynthia Wehr. Wowwww they demonstrated some of their winning postures in one of our yoga classes (nice extra 5 minute break for us too mid class - ha) but it was incredible to see them contort themselves and hold such balance and focus in each of the postures. So amazing! I feel so lucky all the incredibly talented people that we are meeting during the course of our training!!

Tomorrow we are having a lecture with Dr Lillian Glass. She is a vocal and speech coach for a lot of famous people. She will help teach us how to project our voice and speak from our stomach area rather than from our throat and things like that. I am excited for that! Any tips on helping me feeling stronger vocally will be great.

Hmm what else, what else, more pictures coming soon, will try to take some pictures of Jess and I since its all been the environment and none with us blah blah.

Tonights yoga class was good (taught by Cynthia - Asan Champ), seemed less humid in the yoga room which is really good! It is still gonna be getting hotter so they constantly remind us. Errr. But thats Bikram Yoga. I did something to my shoulder 2 days ago. Pulled a muscle or something. Aye. It was feeling better bcs I was Tiger Balming it and icing it but today it seemed more irritated again. Tried to ease up a bit during tonights class. Maybe this wknd it will go away. Also my allergies or whatever u wanna call a stuffy nose and sneezing a lot is, is back. Doesn't help that Bikram keeps us up all hrs for his lectures. 1:30am last night. Tonight is gonna be a 2am night I can feel it. He seems to keep pushing it a half hr later and later. I cant say I feel like I got much from his lectures so far - he is so scattered, but last nights lecture I actually enjoyed. He talked a lot about his life which is just so hard to believe how much he has done and the experiences he has had. He explained the No GREEN thing to us. 3 reasons behind it: 1. In India green is a superstition of bad luck. 2. Green is seen as a color of Envy. 3. Bikrams guru requested no green (his guru lost his son and he was wearing a green shirt). So he left it as this: Keep green outdoors in nature, don't bring it indoors. Still I see people wearing green to class! Its a little request of his that he asks.

I started drinking those Starbucks Frappucinos you can buy at the supermarket. Ugh. I hate coffee or relying on caffeine but it completely kept me awake last night during lecture. I will need a regular shipment of those straight to my hotel room for the next month in order to survive the lectures and dialogue memorization. Ha. More later, gotta go to lecture till 2am aghhh!
